(NHBRC) – Outsourced Inspectorate: Gauteng Region

Contract Period: 2yrs (November 2005 – Oct. 2007)

Contact Period: 3yrs (Nov. 2007 – Oct. 2010)

Inspectorate: Eastern Cape Region (Subsidy houses)

Contract Period: June 2010 – July 2011

The homes which Ahanang is required to inspect in terms of this agreement includes all homes defined under the Housing Consumer Protection Measures Act.

Ahanang has also been instrumental in creating a Building Information System in the inspection environment. System analysts form part of the core Ahanang team.

Inspections

The NHBRC is a statutory body and was established to improve structural quality standards in the home building industry, through amongst others assisting builders through training and inspection and to maintain technical standards of home building.

The legislation governing the NHBRC aims at protecting the home consumer.

All new homes should by law be enrolled with the NHBRC before construction starts. The builder also should be registered with the NHBRC.

Any house enrolled with the NHBRC should be inspected for structural quality by an NHBRC accredited inspector. The NHBRC is responsible only for structural defects.

If the house does not meet the quality requirements as stated in the NHBRC builders’ manual, the inspectors issue a certificate of non-compliance and the builder needs to rectify the default within a stipulated period.

Construction Projects

Ahanang offers turnkey solutions in the field of construction and related disciplines. Far from engaging only in the single activity of construction or assembling of an infrastructure, Ahanang handles environmental impact of the work, budgeting, availability of materials, successful scheduling, preparing tender documents including managing inconveniences (if any) to the public caused by construction delays. These are just some of the hallmarks of Ahanang’s being.

Ahanang brings together a team of project managers, supervised by construction managers, design engineers, architects, and all those involved in delivering turnkey solutions.

No job is too big or too small for our team of dedicated staff. A separate division handles refurbishments and alterations for both big and small projects. With us the client is assured of a desirable outcome. Our experience in ensuring quality construction on behalf of the NHBRC since 2005 places us as a leader in quality control. Our experience in producing quality affordable housing projects, in record time and being the preferred supplier for prefabricated homes for a government emergency shelter project is proof that we are well recognised among leaders in the housing sector.

Ahanang offers “one-stop-shopping” for construction projects of any size.
